COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Law Offices of Robert A. Schuerger Co., LPA (Schuerger Law), based in Columbus, OH, today announced it has received Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) certification through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). Schuerger Law provides comprehensive debt collection services to the higher education, government, healthcare and commercial industries. The HUBZone program helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain important access to Federal and State contracting opportunities. Among other requirements, the Federal HUBZone program requires a firm’s principal office to be located in a Federal HUBZone location, with not less than 35% of its employees residing in HUBZones. The program was enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997.

“I am very excited about this latest step in our firm’s history,” said Robert A. Schuerger, II, Attorney-at-Law and founder. “Not only are we positioned to help our clients meet their important financial goals,” adds Schuerger, “but we are bringing meaningful, well-paying jobs to our dedicated and skilled workforce in the HUBZone communities where we operate.”  With operational centers in Columbus, OH, (and an additional center planned to open in early 2017), the firm’s clients benefit from a compliant and professional law office environment that treats consumers with courtesy and respect. “We protect our clients’ hard earned reputations through our commitment to fairness and responsive customer service,” said Schuerger. The firm’s tenured workforce and experienced management team is dedicated to serving public and private sector clients’ specialized debt collection and contact center needs. Schuerger Law subscribes to the belief that an engaged, satisfied workforce creates satisfied customers.

Mr. Schuerger was appointed as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General in 2007 and continues to serve in this capacity today, with the firm recovering debts owed to state agencies and public educational institutions. The firm currently has plans to operate as a subcontractor for the U.S. Department of Education Private Collection Agency (PCA) contract in addition to pursuing other federal contracting opportunities.

Chief Legal Officer, James Sisto stated, “Achieving HUBZone certification is an important step in our plans for serving the government marketplace. Our clients can count on us not only to perform effectively and absorb significant volumes of transfers, but we also have made a tremendous investment to comply with FISMA (Federal Information Security Management Act) data security requirements — underscoring the firm’s major commitment of resources to safeguard personal financial information and protect critical IT infrastructure and data networks, increasingly vital for all of our clients, especially in government and higher education.”

Schuerger Law’s receipt of federal HUBZone status was assisted by Collection Quotient Consulting (CoQc), an advisory firm that specializes in the strategic sales and marketing, debt management and government affairs needs of the credit and collection industry.  CoQc, led by Randall Kamm, Principal, has helped Schuerger Law secure federal subcontracting and other important business relationships that have aided its growth and development.
