Pioneer Credit Employees Raise More Than $7,000 for Disabled Iraq War Veterans

ARMing Heroes, the collection industry’s charity for military veterans, today announced that the employees of the Western New York offices of Pioneer Credit Recovery  have generously raised and donated more than $7,000 to ARMing Heroes’ fourth annual No Debts for Vets Charity Fundraising Drive, which runs from September 11th through Veterans Day, November 11th, every year. Tax deductible donations are now being accepted online at www.armingheroes.org and via mail to PO Box 353, Collingswood, NJ 08108, payable to ARMing Heroes.

In the past several months, press releases like those telling the stories of veterans like Jacob Gayer and Daniel Smithremind all of us why we should support those who have served their country.

This year, disabled Iraq war veterans like Miguel Gomez have come to ARMing Heroes for help.  Miguel, a U.S. Marine from 2002 through 2006 and a sailor in the U.S. Navy from 2007 through 2011, served two tours of duty in Iraq.  After retiring, he returned with not only dozen awards and citations earned during his service, but also with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other disabilities that made it difficult for him to re-enter the workforce.  He also returned with debts that got out of hand due in part to divorce proceeding that began while he was still serving his country.  Miguel is typical of the kind of veteran who has applied for a grant this year from ARMing Heroes.  His grant application is pending, and a decision is expected in November.

Many companies in the industry have chosen to raise money for veterans by incentivizing their people to give to this worthy cause in exchange for dress down days or for other benefits management might think of.  This is the single biggest way those in the collection industry can help our cause.  Those interested in holding an employee fundraiser should contact the organization through www.armingheroes.org.
