Today, April 15, is tax filing deadline day. In “celebration” of this national day of compulsory capitulation, many people around the country are launching protests of the current administration’s economic policies, which the protesters feel is long on spending and even longer on taxation. The protests are couched as “mini revolts” named tea parties, hearkening back to the famous actions of pre-America’s patriots.
Ostensibly organized, but most probably simply promoted, by radio-turned-TV talking head Glenn Beck, the “tea parties” will offer like-minded people an opportunity to register their opposition with the government regarding the current direction of economic policy.
Normally, stories like this would be put on auto-ignore by the insideARM editorial staff. And indeed, it was for a while. But we received so many emails, and even one phone call, on the topic that we felt it was something that many in the industry were talking about. And that’s kind of the point of the new Who’s Hot section.
It will be interesting to monitor the activities today to see what kind of turnout these events get. And, of course, April 15 is a somewhat symbolic day in the ARM industry anyway. Tax season is usually a strong time of the year for collection agency performance.
