St. George, Utah — TCN, a leading provider of Interactive Voice Communications, announced today the release of its new Local Caller ID feature.

This feature allows clients to call their customers and display a caller ID number that is local to the customer’s calling area. For example: ABC Bank in New York City can call John Doe in Buffalo and display a caller ID with a 917 area code – rather than a 212 area code or a 1-800 number. This local number encourages the customer to pick up the phone. And if John Doe calls the local 917 number back, it will connect to ABC Bank’s standard 1-800 customer service number.

TCN’s feature is unique from its competitors’ similar features in two important ways.

First, TCN does not contract a 3rd party to match the numbers and to provide the client a bucket, or list, of local phone numbers. Rather, TCN buys buckets for its clients or allows the client to buy their own from their current phone provider. TCN’s own technology then matches the best local number to the customer’s calling area. Other companies’ features are simply provided by a 3rd party partner.

Providing this service through its own technology is an important distinction. If clients are forced to rely on a partner of one of their vendors, then clients are at the mercy of removed business relationships: what if this relationship turns sour? After calling their customers for months using certain local caller ID numbers, a client’s business would suffer if these local numbers no longer connected to their call center. For some clients, this disruption in service could also have legal implications.

Second, TCN’s feature matches the local caller ID to the customer’s phone number based upon three proprietary match criteria. These three parameters insure that the best local number is chosen for each customer phone number.

Initial results show that this TCN Local Caller ID feature increases customer response rates from 50-100% over using a single, traditional caller ID number.
