A collection agency based in Seattle held a job fair this past weekend to fill some 200 spots at its Montgomery, Ala. call center. The company is planning to expand the total number of employees there to 500.
ER Solutions (ERS), a unit of accounts receivable management giant Convergent Resources, is adding the jobs at the newest of its five national call centers, according to a press release from the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber recruited ERS to the area in February 2007 ("Collection Agency to Open 300-Person Call Center in Alabama," Feb. 23, 2007). ERS already employs 300 people at the call center.
"Last year ER Solutions announced their Montgomery facility, and today they are expanding their workforce by more than 65 percent,” said Mac McLeod, co-chairman of the Montgomery Area Committee of 100, in a press release last week. “This speaks volumes about the skilled, quality workforce available in Montgomery. I am honored to make this key economic announcement.”
Although ERS’ main business is debt collection, Robert Cutrone, president of the company’s outsourcing division, said at a press conference that the new employees will be focusing on first-party customer service work.
ERS held a job fair on Saturday, July 12 and plans to have new recruits start as early as August 1.
ERS, based in the Seattle suburb of Renton, Wash., focuses on ARM and debt collection services and employs nearly 1,500 people at call centers in Montgomery, Atlanta, Houston, Phoenix and Seattle. ERS is wholly owned by Convergent Resources, an ARM company based in Atlanta with more than 2,000 total employees in 10 locations around the country.
