California Association of Collectors Gets Record Participation in Scholarship Program

In 2005, California Association of Collectors, Inc. (CAC) founded an Educational Scholarship Foundation (CACESF) that awards scholarships to California High School Seniors. Applicants submit an application and write an essay on The Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Credit During Your College Years. This year, CAC received a record-breaking 600 essays, more than double from previous years.

The essays  are read by volunteers who score the top ten. The three students whose essays score the highest are notified and invited to a banquet in Sacramento where they read their essay in front of CAC members, state legislators and a panel of judges who determine the first, second and third place winner. First place is awarded $2,500; second place $2,000 and third place $1,500. The winners will be announced at the end of April.

CACESF was started to help California high school graduates pursue their education at any accredited public or private college, university or trade school and to emphasize to high school seniors the importance of good credit management.
