PR - Florida Hospital Association Names New President

Tallahassee, Fla.-based Florida Hospital Association (FHA) announced the selection of Bruce Rueben as the next president of the 170-member association of hospitals and health systems.  Rueben, who will arrive in July, currently serves as the president of the Minnesota Hospital Association and will be replacing Wayne NeSmith, who will be retiring in September after seven years as FHA’s president and more than 39 years in policy development and advocacy leadership.

“We are excited to have Bruce coming to Florida.  He brings a proven record of accomplishments and a deep understanding of the hospital community,” said Timothy M. Goldfarb, FHA’s Board Chair and President of Shands HealthCare.  “FHA took a great deal of time to find the right leader and we believe we found that leader in Bruce Rueben,” said Goldfarb.

Rueben has led the Minnesota Hospital Association since 1998.  A Richmond, Virginia native, he received his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and his master’s in business administration from the University of South Carolina.  He will become the fifth president of the association since the establishment of a permanent position more than 50 years ago.
