Jay Gonsalves Named President of ACA International

Middleboro, Mass. business professional Jay Gonsalves was recently named President of ACA International, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals (ACA).

ACA is the largest trade group serving the credit and collection community, with more than 5,500 members in 55 countries worldwide.

The announcement was made during ACA’s 69th Annual Convention and Exposition in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Gonsalves continues his term on the ACA Executive Committee, which includes one year in each of five executive positions.

Gonsalves was elected to the Executive Committee by his fellow association members and serves in a leadership role, providing guidance and direction for the association.

Gonsalves holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and masters of health services administration from Salve Regina College. Gonsalves has been a professional in the credit and collection industry for over 25 years, and is currently president of Action Collection Agencies Inc. in Middleboro.

Gonsalves has been involved in the association at both the local and national levels for several years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors as the Legislative Chair for the New England Collectors Association (NECA) and was also a past president of that association. He has served the association on the national level as chairman of the ACA Interstate Collections Committee and as a member of the ACA Board of Directors.

In 1996 and 2008, Gonsalves was recognized by the Massachusetts House of Representatives for his dedication and contribution to the small business community in Massachusetts, and was honored for his outstanding dedication to the NECA in 1997 with the Robert M. Loomer Award.

In addition to his involvement with ACA, Gonsalves is active in his community. He was a long-time coach and former commissioner of Rochester Youth Baseball, and has served in several leadership positions at First Congregational Church of Rochester.

Gonsalves resides with Connie, his wife of 27 years, and two of their three children in Rochester, Mass.
